Emergency Examinations

We strive to see any emergencies the same day and to help get you out of pain.

Toothaches, chipped or broken teeth are no fun. Pain and swelling in the mouth is surely something you want to avoid. Many toothaches or pain in your mouth are avoidable. Unfortunately, some emergency problems are unavoidable and may not necessarily be your fault either.

We believe it’s better to treat dental pain as soon as possible.

When a dental problem is developing, typically the problem will be smaller if it is treated quickly. We understand that if you are fearful of visiting the dentist you are more likely you are to put off treatment. If that is the case for you, please see our page for Sedation options. We can help you manage your anxiety for the examination appointment and schedule any required treatment with sedation.

We accommodate our patient’s needs.

For existing patients with emergency situations, we have been known to come into the office on the weekend because toothaches or accidents often don’t happen on a regular workweek schedule.

What to do if your entire tooth has been knocked out:

  • Clean the tooth VERY gently (there are ligament cells that you want to keep alive on the root surface)
  • Place the tooth back into the socket
  • If you can’t get the tooth back into the socket, another option is to place the tooth in milk or in between your check and your jaw bone to keep the cells from drying out
  • See a dentist as soon as possible. Re-implanting a dislodged tooth is very unlikely to be successful after 60-90 minutes.
